RAMS Radio Amateur Mobile Society

RAMS have been providing communications for the California Division of the Pony Express since 2006. We have a net control, two shadows(one for the Ride Captain and one for the Ride Lieutenant) a spotter and a number of hams who can operate in a leap frog fashion. The spotter places the hams(leap frogs)at the various XP exchange points.

As of 2008 we will have a ham listening in on the exchanges and reporting on the progress of the ride to the website. We mainly operate on a 2 meter or 440 repeater but have also used simplex. As of 2008 we have a 2 meter repeater that will cover the highway 50 canyon up to Meyers, and another repeater that is connected is used on the other side of the hill toWoodfords.
