
David Jay
Died: June 12, 1930, in Atchison, Kansas.
During the Pony Express, David Jay rode in Kansas and Nebraska Territories from Seneca to Big Sandy. After a route change, he rode from Big Sandy to Fort Kearney. Occasionally, he rode as far west as Julesburg.
After the Pony Express, Jay enlisted in Company A, 11th Kansas Calvary, during the last years of the Civil War. He fought at the Battle of Westport. After the war, he married and raised six children. Settling in Atchison, Kansas, he worked for the railroad and as a policeman.
