Speakers from the National Pony Express Association, Inc. will discuss how they honor the Pony Express today, Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 12 – 1pm, PDT. Find out about the 1983 “Slide Ride” when members of the organization saddled up to ride the mail between two California towns made inaccessible by an avalanche, the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay Ride, and other stories from the trail. After the talk, take a look at items they’ve collected along the way, from a mochila to an Olympic torch.

150th Pony Express Trails to Rails, Old Sacramento to Folsom, California
Pony Express Living History Festival April 3 at Buckland Station, nine miles south of Silver Springs, Nevada, on Highway 95A.
The Cattlemen's Ball is one of the largest annual events held in Nebraska and is a fund raiser for cancer research. This year it is being held near Kearney on an historic ranch along the Platte River. As part of the NPEA Nebraska Division's 150th Celebration Nebraska Riders will be doing an eastbound and westbound Mochila exchange during the Western Show on Saturday, June 5. Tickets for the event are $65 each and include the afternoon activities, dinner and a Randy Travis concert.
Michael Martin Murphey Headlines Apr. 3 Concert. Singing Cowboy-Poet Michael Martin Murphey, the top-selling singer-songwriter of American cowboy music, will perform in concert during as part of St. Joseph, Mo.'s Pony Express Sesquicentennial Celebration, Saturday, April 3 at the historic Missouri Theatre. Becoming Buffalo Bill: Competitors from across the country pay tribute to Wild West legend On April 1, when several men will dress like a legendary cowboy who just happened to be a decorated Civil War soldier, a young Pony Express rider and the greatest entertainer of the Wild West. They’ll be competing in the Buffalo Bill Look-Alike Contest at 4 p.m. at Patee Park across the street from the Pony Express National Museum.

The Model A Ford Club of America tour this June will "follow" the Pony Express route between St. Joseph, Missouri, and Sacramento, California. Several members of the Santa Clara Valley Chapter will be traveling the route beginning in Sacramento and driving to Capser, Wyoming, to meet up with others from the East who will be driving from St.Joseph. A big celebration will take place in Casper on June 23rd. The West to East journey is scheduled to depart Sacramento on June 16th. The two groups (West to East and East to West) will have GPS transponders on the tour so that folks can see where the tour is at any moment.
